These deductions can be made weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on your salary payment arrangement's. Your employer can also buy the bicycle on your behalf and not require you to pay for it.
1. Massive saving on cost per km travelled compared to an average family car. For the price of 1 litre of petrol a car will cover 12km, while in comparison an electric bike can cover between 500 - 1000km for the same cost (€2)
2. E-Biking makes the daily commute more manageable by effectively flattening hills cutting out headwinds allowing the rider to travel longer distances and arrive in work without the sweat and tiredness of cycling a regular bicycle.

The Cycle to Work Scheme is a government initiative in Ireland that allows employees to purchase a bicycle and cycling equipment tax-free through their employer. The aim of the scheme is to encourage more people to cycle to work, which has numerous benefits for health, the environment, and congestion on the roads.
Under the Cycle to Work Scheme, employees can purchase a bicycle and cycling equipment up to a maximum value of €1,500 (For Electric Bikes) tax-free through their employer. The cost is then deducted from the employee's gross salary over a period of up to 12 months, so they save money on income tax, PRSI, and USC.
The Cycle to Work Scheme is open to all employees who pay tax through the PAYE system in Ireland. However, some employers may have additional eligibility criteria, so it's best to check with your employer.
The Electric Bike you purchase must be suitable for everyday use and primarily for cycling to work. This can include Electric road bikes, hybrid bikes, Mountain bikes, Cargo Bikes and folding bikes!
Cycling equipment that is eligible under the scheme includes helmets, lights, bells, locks, mirrors, and mudguards. Clothing and shoes that are suitable for cycling can also be purchased though the scheme.
The scheme is available once every four years per employee!
At the end of the scheme, you will own the bicycle and equipment outright. However, if you leave your job within the 12-month repayment period, you will need to pay the outstanding balance in full.
